The Counselling process


Counselling is the final process in which a candidate fills the choice of colleges and he/she is alloted seat based on their rank. Counselling is conducted by MCC(medical counselling committee) and Sate Counselling authorities of respective states. MCC conducts counselling for central colleges including –


i. 15% All India Quota MBBS/ BDS Seats of States (except Jammu & Kashmir)


ii. 100%MBBS/ BDS Seats of BHU (Banaras Hindu university open seats)


iii. AIIMS  – 100% MBBS Seats of AIIMS across India


iv. JIPMER  (Puducherry/ Karaikal)


v. AMU( Aligarh Muslim university)


vi. 15% All India Quota seats of Delhi University/ IndraPrasthaUniversity (VMMC/ ABVIMS/ESIC Dental)


vii. Jamia Open seats- Faculty of Dentistry (Jamia Milia 


viii. 15% All India Quota Seats of ESIC

Whereas, State counselling authorities conducts counselling for the rest  85% seats of state medical colleges


A summary of the counselling process – 

    1.     Online Registration in MCC website( or state medical website

a)     Fill Personal and Academic Details

b)     Generate Login Credentials

c)     Pay Registration Fee

d)     Submit Registration Form


2.     Choice Filling and Locking

a)       Research and Gather Information about Medical Colleges

b)       Log in to the MCC Website or state counselling websites

c)       Fill Choices of Preferred Colleges

d)       Modify and Rearrange Choices as Needed

e)       Lock Choices before the Deadline


3.     Seat Allotment (Round 1)

a)     MCC (or state counselling websites) Publishes Seat Matrix and Allotment Results

b)     Check Allotment Result.

c)     Log in to the website and Download Allotment Letter (if you are allotted any college).

d)     Accept or Decline the Allotted Seat

e)     If Accepted, Report to the Allotted College for Document Verification

f)      If Declined, Participate in Subsequent Rounds (if applicable)

4.     Reporting to Allotted College (Round 1)

a)     Complete Document Verification

b)     Pay Admission Fees

c)     Confirm Admission by Submitting Required Documents

d)     Collect Provisional Admission Letter



5.     Second Round Counselling

a)     Fresh Choice Filling and Locking (for Eligible Candidates)

b)     MCC(or state counselling authority)Publishes Seat Allotment Results

c)     Report to the Allotted College for Document Verification and Admission

d)     Participate in Subsequent Rounds (if applicable)


6.     Mop-Up Round Counselling (if applicable)

a)     MCC Publish Vacant Seat Matrix and Allotment Results

b)     Log in to the website and fill the preferred list of colleges

c)     MCC publishes results

d)     Report to the Allotted College for Document Verification and Admission

e)     Surrender Allotted Seat (if desired)


7.      Stray Vacancy Round (if applicable)

a)     MCC Publish Vacant Seat Details

b)     Register and Fill Choices (if eligible)

c)     Seat Allotment Results

d)     Report to Allotted College for Admission

e)     Complete Admission Formalities
